Planning Permission


Planning permission is not typically needed as our buildings are classed as a 'Portable Building', however there may be certain requirements that need to be followed and it falls upon you to check with your local planning office.

Some exceptions, where planning may be required if

• The new building takes up more than 50% of the garden.
• The new building would be nearer to the highway than the existing house, unless there is a clearance of at least 20 metres.
• The new building is for commercial purposes.
• If you have a listed building.
• If you live in a conservation area.
• The new building has a greater volume of 10 cubic metres and within 5 metres of the house; this may be classed as an extension.
• A single pitch roof exceeds 3 metres or a ridge roof exceeds 4 metres from the highest ground adjacent to the new building.

We would suggest that to keep your neighbours informed to avoid any potential problems from occurring.
